✧ The Virtue of Jihad

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ بِنَسَا حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زَنْجُوَيْهِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ

حَاصَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الطَّائِفَ فَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ بَلَغَ بِسَهْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَهُوَ لَهُ دَرَجَةٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ» قَالَ فَبَلَغَتْ يَوْمَئِذٍ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ سَهْمًا

✧ We besieged al-Ṭāʾif with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Whoever reaches the enemy with an arrow in the way of Allah, it is a degree for him in Paradise.” He said, “That day it reached sixteen arrows.”
