✧ We were with the Prophet ﷺ when a messenger from one of his daughters came and said: “O Messenger of Allah, your daughter sends word that you come to her, for a child of hers is dying.” He said: “Go to her and tell her: ‘To Allah belongs what He takes, and to Him belongs what He gives, and everything with Him has an appointed term. So let her be patient and seek reward.’” He said: It was not long before he returned and said, “O Messenger of Allah, she implores you to come to her.” So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, and a group of the Ansar stood with him. We entered, and the child was brought to him; his soul was rattling in his chest, and his eyes overflowed. Sa‘d b. ‘Ubadah said to him, “What is this, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “It is mercy that Allah has placed in the hearts of His servants. Indeed, Allah shows mercy to those of His servants who are merciful.”
