✧ The Allegiance of the Imams and What is Recommended for Them

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الطَّحَّانُ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ

«بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَأَنَا أَرْفَعُ غُصْنَ الشَّجَرَةِ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ فَبَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نَفِرَّ لَمْ نُبَايعْهُ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ قُلْنَا لَهُ كَمْ كُنْتُمْ؟ قَالَ أَلْفٌ وَأَرْبَعُ مِائَةٍ»

✧ “We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Day of al-Ḥudaybiyah while I was lifting the branch of the tree from his face. We pledged allegiance to him that we would not flee; we did not pledge allegiance to him for death.” We said to him: How many were you? He said: One thousand four hundred.
