أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ أَنَّ الْفُرَيْعَةَ بِنْتَ مَالِكِ بْنِ سِنَانَ وَهِيَ أُخْتُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَتْهَا
أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ تَسْأَلُهُ أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَى أَهْلِهَا فِي بَنِي خُدْرَةَ فَإِنَّ زَوْجَهَا خَرَجَ فِي طَلَبِ أَعْبُدٍ لَهُ أَبَقُوا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانُوا بِطَرَفِ الْقَدُومِ لَحِقَهُمْ فَقَتَلُوهُ فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ أَرْجِعَ إِلَى أَهْلِي فَإِنَّ زَوْجِي لَمْ يَتْرُكْنِي فِي مَنْزِلٍ يَمْلِكُهُ وَلَا نَفَقَةَ فَقَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ» فَانْصَرَفْتُ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنْتُ فِي الْحُجْرَةِ أَوْ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ دَعَانِي أَوْ أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَدُعِيتُ لَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَيْفَ قُلْتِ؟ » قَالَتْ فَرَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ الْقِصَّةَ الَّتِي ذَكَرْتُ مِنْ شَأْنِ زَوْجِي فَقَالَ «امْكُثِي فِي بَيْتِكِ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ» قَالَتْ فَاعْتَدَدْتُ فِيهِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا

✧ She came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asking him to allow her to return to her family among the Banu Khudrah, for her husband had gone out in pursuit of some slaves of his who had fled, and when they were at the edge of al-Qadum, they caught up with him and killed him. I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to allow me to return to my family, for my husband had not left me in a house that he owned, nor any maintenance. She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Yes.' So I turned away, and when I was in the room or in the mosque, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called me or ordered me to be called, so I was summoned to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'What did you say?' She said: I repeated to him the story I had mentioned about my husband's situation. He said, 'Stay in your house until the prescribed term reaches its end.' She said: So I observed the waiting period in it for four months and ten days.

يرويه سعد بن إسحاق بن كعب بن عجرة واختلف عنه فرواه مالك بن أنس وحماد بن زيد وشعبة ويحيى بن سعيد القطان والدراوردي وعبد الله بن أبي بكر وعبيد الله بن عمر عن سعد بن إسحاق عن عمته زينب بنت كعب بن عجرة وكانت تحت أبي سعيد الخدري عن فريعة ورواه يحيى بن سعيد الأنصاري واختلف عنه فرواه ابن إدريس عن يحيى عن سعد عن عمته زينب مرسلا وقال جرير عن يحيى بن سعيد عن سعد عن عمته زينب مرسلا أيضا وقال سويد بن عبد العزيز عن يحيى عن سعد عن فريعة ولم يذكر زينبا وقال يزيد بن هارون عن يحيى عن إسحاق بن سعد وإنما أراد سعد بن إسحاق وروى هذا الحديث الزهري واختلف عنه فرواه الجراح بن المنهال عن الزهري أن سعد بن إسحاق أخبره عن زينب عن فريعة والزهري لم يسمع من سعد ورواه يونس عن الزهري قال حدثني مالك بن أنس وخالفه ابن وهب فرواه عن يونس عن الزهري قال حدثني من سمع سعد بن إسحاق ولم يسمه وقال معمر عن الزهري بلغني عن سعد بن إسحاق والصحيح قول من قال عن سعد بن إسحاق عن عمته زينب عن الفريعة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم
machine translationSaʿd b. Isḥāq b. Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Mālik b. Anas, Ḥammād b. Zayd, Shuʿbah, Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān, al-Darāwardī, ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Bakr and ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar narrated it from Saʿd b. Isḥāq, from his paternal aunt Zaynab bt. Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah, who was the wife of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, from Furayʿah. Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Anṣārī also narrated it, and there is disagreement about him. Ibn Idrīs narrated it from Yaḥyā, from Saʿd, from his aunt Zaynab, as a mursal report. Jarīr said, from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd, from Saʿd, from his aunt Zaynab, also as a mursal report. Suwayd b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz said, from Yaḥyā, from Saʿd, from Furayʿah, and did not mention Zaynab. Yazīd b. Hārūn said, from Yaḥyā, from Isḥāq b. Saʿd, but he only meant Saʿd b. Isḥāq. Al-Zuhrī also narrated this ḥadīth, and there is disagreement about him. Al-Jarrāḥ b. al-Minhāl narrated it from al-Zuhrī that Saʿd b. Isḥāq informed him, from Zaynab, from Furayʿah, but al-Zuhrī did not hear from Saʿd. Yūnus narrated it from al-Zuhrī, who said: Mālik b. Anas narrated to me. Ibn Wahb contradicted him and narrated it from Yūnus, from al-Zuhrī, who said: someone who heard Saʿd b. Isḥāq narrated to me, without naming him. Maʿmar said, from al-Zuhrī: it reached me from Saʿd b. Isḥāq. The correct version is the saying of those who said: from Saʿd b. Isḥāq, from his aunt Zaynab, from al-Furayʿah, from the Prophet ﷺ.
