✧ The companionship of married couples

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَعْذَرَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ وَلَمْ يَظُنَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَنَالَهَا بِالَّذِي نَالَهَا فَرَفَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَدَهُ فَلَطَمَهَا وَصَكَّ فِي صَدْرِهَا فَوَجَدَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَقَالَ «يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ مَا أَنَا بِمُسْتَعْذِرِكَ مِنْهَا بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ sought to excuse Abu Bakr regarding Aishah, and the Prophet ﷺ did not think that Abu Bakr would do to her what he did. Abu Bakr raised his hand and slapped her, and struck her chest. The Prophet ﷺ felt distressed at that and said, 'O Abu Bakr, I will never ask you to excuse her after this.'
