أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هُرْمُزَ الْأَعْرَجُ

أَنَّ عَبَّاسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنْكَحَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ ابْنَتَهُ وَأَنْكَحَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنَتَهُ وَقَدْ كَانَا جَعَلَاهُ صَدَاقًا فَكَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَهُوَ خَلِيفَةٌ إِلَى مَرْوَانَ يَأْمُرُهُ بِالتَّفْرِيقِ بَيْنَهُمَا وَقَالَ فِي كِتَابِهِ «هَذَا الشِّغَارُ قَدْ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْهُ»

✧ That 'Abbas b. 'Abd Allah b. 'Abbas gave his daughter in marriage to 'Abd al-Rahman b. al-Hakam, and 'Abd al-Rahman gave him his daughter in marriage, and they had made them the dower. Mu'awiyah b. Abi Sufyan, while he was caliph, wrote to Marwan ordering him to separate them, and he said in his letter: 'This is shighar, which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade.'
