✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ captured the captives of Banu al-Mustaliq, Juwayriyah bt. al-Harith fell to a share for Thabit b. Qays b. Shammas or for his cousin. She made a contract to purchase her freedom. She was a sweet woman; hardly would anyone see her but that she captivated him. She came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking his help in her contract. By Allah, no sooner had she stood at the door of the chamber but I saw her and disliked her, and I knew that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would see from her what I saw. Juwayriyah said, “O Messenger of Allah, the matter has occurred as you know; I contracted for my freedom, and I have come to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking his help.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Is there not something better than that?” She said, “What is it?” He said, “I marry you and pay your contract.” She said, “Yes.” He said, “I have done it.” When that reached the Muslims, they said, “In-laws of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” So they sent what was in their hands of the captives of Banu al-Mustaliq. By his marriage, one hundred households of Banu al-Mustaliq were freed. She said, “I do not know any woman who was a greater blessing upon her people than her.”
