✧ I said to Ibn ‘Abbas: “Have you considered this ramal at the House for three circuits and walking for four circuits? Is it a Sunnah? For your people claim that it is a Sunnah.” He said: “They have spoken truth and they have lied.” I said: “What do you mean by ‘They have spoken truth and they have lied’?” He said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Makkah, and the polytheists said: ‘Muhammad and his companions are unable to circumambulate the House due to weakness.’” He said: “And they used to envy him.” He said: “So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded them to do ramal for three circuits and walk for four.” He said: “So I said to him...”
