machine translationAl-Bukhārī narrated it from Aḥmad b. Saʿīd, from Wahb b. Jarīr, from his father, from Ayyūb, from ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd, from his father, from Ibn ʿAbbās, without mentioning Ubayy. He said: ʿAlī b. al-Madīnī and Ḥajjāj b. al-Shāʿir both narrated it from Wahb, from his father, from Ayyūb, from Saʿīd, from Ibn ʿAbbās, from Ubayy b. Kaʿb, from the Prophet ﷺ in this form. ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd left it out, while the two added Ubayy b. Kaʿb to it. Wahb said: I said to my father, "Ḥammād does not mention Ubayy b. Kaʿb and does not raise it to the Prophet." He said: "I remember it this way; thus Ayyūb narrated it to us." There is further discussion of it beyond this. Al-Nasāʾī narrated it from Aḥmad b. Saʿīd with his chain as al-Bukhārī narrated it, and I think he mentioned Ubayy; and from Abū Dāwūd Sulaymān b. Sayf, from ʿAlī b. al-Madīnī, from Wahb with his chain, from Ubayy. Abū Ḥātim b. Ḥibbān al-Bustī narrated it from ʿAbdullāh b. Ṣāliḥ al-Bukhārī, from Ḥajjāj b. al-Shāʿir with his chain, from Ubayy b. Kaʿb.
