✧ 'A man said, "I will certainly give charity." He went out with his charity and placed it in the hand of an adulteress. In the morning people were saying, "Charity was given last night to an adulteress." He said, "O Allah, to You be praise—to an adulteress! I will certainly give charity." He went out with his charity and placed it in the hand of a thief. In the morning people were saying, "Charity was given last night to a thief." He said, "O Allah, to You be praise—to a thief! I will certainly give charity tonight." He went out with his charity and placed it in the hand of a rich man. In the morning people were saying, "Charity was given last night to a rich man." He said, "O Allah, to You be praise—to a rich man!" Then he was told, "As for your charity, it has been accepted. As for the adulteress, perhaps she will become chaste by it and refrain from her adultery. As for the thief, perhaps he will refrain from his theft. And perhaps the rich man will take heed and spend from what Allah, Exalted is He, has given him."
