✧ ʿAbd Allāh b. Masʿūd entered the mosque while the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the sermon and sat beside Ubayy b. Kaʿb. He asked him about something or spoke to him about something, but Ubayy did not respond. Ibn Masʿūd thought it was because of some resentment. When the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer, Ibn Masʿūd said, "O Ubayy, what prevented you from responding to me?" He said, "You did not attend Friday with us." He said, "Why?" He said, "You spoke while the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the sermon." Ibn Masʿūd got up, went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and mentioned that to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Ubayy spoke the truth; obey Ubayy."
