machine translationAl-ʿAlāʾ b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Rawḥ b. al-Qāsim, Shuʿbah, ʿAmr b. Abī ʿAmr the freed slave of al-Muṭṭalib, al-Darāwardī, Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. Abī Kathīr, Muslim b. Khālid, Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, Abū Zukayr Yaḥyā b. Muḥammad b. Qays, and ʿAbdullāh b. Jaʿfar b. Najīḥ, the Madinans, narrated it from al-ʿAlāʾ, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah. Zayd b. Abī Unaysah and Ibn Jurayj differed from them: they narrated it from al-ʿAlāʾ, from Isḥāq Abū ʿAbdillāh, from Abū Hurayrah. Muḥammad b. Isḥāq differed from them as well: he narrated it from al-ʿAlāʾ, from his father, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, from the Prophet ﷺ, concerning the virtue of early rising only. The hadith is the hadith of Abū Hurayrah, and it seems that both versions from Abū Hurayrah are sound.
