✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out in the year of the conquest to Makkah in Ramadan until he reached Kurā‘ al-Ghamīm. The people were fasting, both on foot and mounted. He was told, “The people are suffering hardship from fasting; they are only watching what you do.” He called for a cup, raised it to his mouth so the people could see, then drank. Some people broke their fast and some continued fasting. The Prophet ﷺ was told that some of them were still fasting, and he said, “Those are the disobedient ones.” The foot soldiers among his companions gathered and said, “Let us seek the supplications of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, for the journey has become difficult and hardship has lengthened.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, “Seek help by moving briskly, for it cuts the distance and lightens the journey.” We did so and it became lighter for us.
