✧ I spent the night with my maternal aunt Maymunah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up at night, relieved himself, then washed his face and hands, then slept. Then he got up, went to the water skin, loosened its tie, and performed a moderate ablution between two ablutions, not excessive but complete. Then he stood and prayed. I got up and stretched, pretending that I had not been watching him. Then I got up and performed ablution. He stood to pray, and I stood on his left, so he took hold of my ear and turned me to his right. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ completed thirteen rak'ahs in his prayer. Then he lay down and slept until he snored, and when he slept he would snore. Then Bilal came and called him to prayer, so he got up and prayed without performing ablution. And in his supplication he said: "O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my sight, light in my hearing, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light below me, light in front of me, light behind me, and grant me abundant light."
