Night Prayer

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ النَّرْسِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

«مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي شَيْئًا مِنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ جَالِسًا حَتَّى دَخَلَ فِي السِّنِّ فَجَعَلَ يَقْرَأُ فَإِذَا بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ السُّورَةِ ثَلَاثُونَ آيَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعُونَ آيَةً قَامَ فَقَرَأَ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ»

Translation

✧ I did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray any part of the night prayer sitting until he reached old age. Then he would recite while sitting, and when thirty or forty verses of the surah remained, he would stand and recite them, then bow.
