Night Prayer

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ هِشَامٍ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَا يَقْرَأُ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ جَالِسًا حَتَّى إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي السِّنِّ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ حَتَّى إِذَا بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثُونَ أَوْ أَرْبَعُونَ آيَةً قَامَ فَقَرَأَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not recite anything of the night prayer sitting down, until when he became old, he would recite sitting; and when thirty or forty verses remained, he would stand and recite them, then prostrate.
