أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ
بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَاجَةٍ فَأَدْرَكْتُهُ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فَأَشَارَ إِلَيَّ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ دَعَانِي فَقَالَ «إِنَّكَ سَلَّمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي» وَهُوَ مُتَوَجِّهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me on an errand. I caught up with him, greeted him with salām while he was praying, and he gestured to me. When he finished, he called me and said: 'You greeted me while I was praying,' and at that time he was facing toward the east.
