✧ He prayed the morning prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ without having prayed the two rak'ahs of Fajr. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the salam, he said the salam with him, then he stood up and prayed the two rak'ahs of Fajr while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was looking at him and did not object to that.

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationIt is faulted because of criticism of Saʿd b. Saʿīd, its narrator. Ibn al-Qaṭṭān said: Saʿd b. Saʿīd is disputed. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal said of him: weak (ḍaʿīf), and Abū Ḥātim said: "muʾaddin" [unclear]. He said: there is disagreement over how this word is vocalised; some read it with a light second letter, meaning one who is ruined, and others with a doubled letter, meaning one who transmits well. He said: the hadith is disputed from its very origin; it is not called sound (ṣaḥīḥ), but rather fair (ḥasan).

  • al-Tirmidhi

machine translationWeak (ḍaʿīf), disconnected (munqaṭiʿ) or mursal.

machine translationStrange (gharīb); Asad was alone in narrating it as connected (mawṣūl), while others said, from al-Layth, from Yaḥyā, that his hadith is mursal.

  • Mubarakpūri

machine translationThe hadith is sound (ṣaḥīḥ), fit to be used as evidence, and it has supporting narrations (shawāhid).

machine translationIt is among the hadiths whose like cannot be used as evidence, because of a defect in its narrators, which is mentioned in detail in the extended work.
