✧ We used to greet the Prophet ﷺ and he would respond to us, meaning during prayer. When we came from the land of Abyssinia, I greeted him and he did not respond to me. I was seized by what was near and what was far, so I sat down until he finished the prayer. I said to him, “You used to respond to us.” He ﷺ said, “Allah brings about whatever He wills, and He has brought about a decree that you should not speak during prayer.”
