أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ يَقُولُ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْ أَحَدَكُمُ امْرَأَتُهُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَلَا يَمْنَعْهَا» قَالَ بِلَالُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ وَاللَّهِ لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ قَالَ فَسَبَّهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَسْوَأَ مَا سَمِعْتُهُ سَبَّهُ قَطُّ وَقَالَ سَمِعْتَنِي قُلْتُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْ أَحَدَكُمُ امْرَأَتُهُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَلَا يَمْنَعْهَا» قُلْتَ وَاللَّهِ لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ؟!

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When any one of you’s wife asks his permission to go to the mosque, he should not prevent her.” Bilāl b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar said: “By Allah, we shall prevent them.” He said: Then ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar reviled him with the worst abuse I ever heard him use, and said: “You heard me say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When any one of you’s wife asks his permission to go to the mosque, he should not prevent her,’ and you say, ‘By Allah, we shall prevent them’?!”
