✧ 'O son of my brother, may Allah not grieve you. This is a covenant from the Prophet ﷺ to us, that we should stand nearest to him.' Then he faced the qiblah and said, 'The people of the covenant have perished, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah' — three times. Then he said, 'By Allah, I do not grieve for them, but I grieve for those whom they have led astray.' He said: I said, 'Who does he mean by this?' He said, 'The rulers.'
