أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَأْتِي مَعَ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ إِلَى سُبْحَةِ الضُّحَى فَيَعْمِدُ إِلَى الْأُسْطُوَانَةِ فَيُصَلِّي قَرِيبًا مِنْهَا فَأَقُولُ لَهُ لَا تُصَلِّ هَا هُنَا وَأُشِيرُ لَهُ إِلَى بَعْضِ نَوَاحِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَيَقُولُ «إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَتَحَرَّى هَذَا الْمَقَامَ»

✧ He used to come with Salamah b. al-Akwa' to the Duha prayer. He would head for a pillar and pray near it. I would say to him, “Do not pray here,” and point to another spot in the mosque, but he would say, “I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seek out this place.”
