✧ We returned from Makkah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and people began asking permission of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he began granting them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What is the matter that the side of the tree that is next to the Messenger of Allah is more hateful to you than the other side?" He said: We saw none of the people except weeping. Abu Bakr said, "The one who asks your permission after this is a fool in my estimation." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, praised Allah and extolled Him, and when he swore he would say, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, I bear witness before Allah that there is not one of you who believes in Allah and then remains steadfast except that he will be led into Paradise. My Lord has promised me to admit seventy thousand of my nation into Paradise without reckoning or punishment. I hope they will not enter it until you and the righteous among your wives and descendants have taken up dwellings in Paradise." Then he said, "When half the night or two-thirds of it has passed, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven and says: 'I will not ask about My servants other than Me. Who is there who asks Me that I may give him? Who is there who seeks My forgiveness that I may forgive him? Who is there who calls upon Me that I may answer him'—until the dawn breaks."
