أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ السَّبَّاكُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ
لَمْ يَخْرُجْ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثًا فَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَذَهَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يتَقَدَّمُ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْحِجَابِ فَرَفَعَهُ فَلَمَّا وَضَحَ لَنَا بَيَاضُ وَجْهِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَا نَظَرْنَا مَنْظَرًا قَطُّ أَعْجَبَ إِلَيْنَا مِنْ وَجْهِ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ وَضَحَ لَنَا قَالَ فَأَوْمَأَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهْ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَنْ تَقَدَّمَ قَالَ «وَأَرْخَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْحِجَابَ فَلَمْ يَقْدِرِ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى مَاتَ ﷺ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not come out to us for three [days]. The prayer was about to be established, and Abū Bakr went forward to lead. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ lifted the curtain, and when the whiteness of the Prophet’s face appeared to us, we had never seen a sight more beloved to us than the face of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ when it appeared to us. He said, ‘The Prophet of Allah ﷺ gestured with his hand to Abū Bakr to go forward.’ He said, ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ lowered the curtain, and he was not able to [come out] until he died ﷺ.’
