أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُصْعَبَ بْنَ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ يَقُولُ

صَلَّيْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ أَبِي فَطَبَّقْتُ بَيْنَ كَفَّيَّ ثُمَّ وَضَعْتُهُمَا بَيْنَ فَخِذِيَّ فَنَهَانِي عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ كُنَّا نَفْعَلُ هَذَا فَنُهِينَا عَنْهُ وَأُمِرْنَا أَنْ نَضَعَ عَلَى الرُّكَبِ

Translation

✧ I prayed beside my father and I placed my palms together (tatbiq) between my thighs, then I placed them between my thighs. He forbade me from that and said: "We used to do this, but we were forbidden from it and were commanded to place our hands on the knees."
