أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ أَبِي زُمَيْلٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ «أَتَقْرَءُونَ فِي صَلَاتِكُمْ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ وَالْإِمَامُ يَقْرَأُ؟ » فَسَكَتُوا فَقَالَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ أَوْ قَائِلُونَ إِنَّا لَنَفْعَلُ قَالَ «فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا وَلْيَقْرَأْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فِي نَفْسِهِ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ prayed with his companions, and when he finished his prayer he turned to face them and said: “Do you recite in your prayer behind the imam while the imam is reciting?” They remained silent. He said it three times. Then a man or men said: We do. He said: “Do not do so; let each of you recite the Fatihah of the Book silently to himself.”
