أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مَرْوَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ وَإِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ فَقَالَ زَيْدٌ «فَحَلَفْتُ بِاللَّهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِيهَا بِأَطْوَلِ الطَّوِيلَتَيْنِ »

✧ He heard Marwan recite "Say: He is Allah, the One" (al-Ikhlas) and "Indeed, We have granted you al-Kawthar" (al-Kawthar), and Zayd said, "I swear by Allah, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recite in it the longest of the two long surahs."
