✧ A young woman from the Arabs was a slave, and they set her free. She was with them, and a little girl of theirs went out wearing a red scarf of leather straps. She said: She put it down, and a kite passed by it while it was lying there, and it thought it was meat, so it snatched it. She said: They looked for it but did not find it. She said: They accused me of it, so they set about searching me. They searched until they searched her private part. She said: By Allah, while I was standing with them, the kite passed by and dropped it, and it fell among them. She said: I said, “This is what you accused me of; you claimed I had it, and I am innocent of it, and here it is.” She said: She then went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and embraced Islam. ʿĀʾishah said: “She had a tent in the mosque. She used to come to me and talk in my presence, and she would not sit with me except that she said…”
