✧ A prayer in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is better than a thousand prayers in any other mosque except the Sacred Mosque, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is the last of the prophets and his mosque is the last of the mosques.
Notes
machine translationAbū Salamah and Abū ʿAbdillāh said: We did not doubt that Abū Hurayrah was reporting this from the hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and that prevented us from asking Abū Hurayrah to confirm that hadith. Then, when Abū Hurayrah died, we discussed it and blamed one another for not having spoken to Abū Hurayrah about it, so that he would trace it back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, if he had heard it from him. While we were in that state, we sat with ʿAbdullāh b. Ibrāhīm b. Qāriẓ, and we mentioned that hadith and what we had neglected regarding the explicit statement of Abū Hurayrah about it. ʿAbdullāh b. Ibrāhīm b. Qāriẓ said to us: I testify that I heard Abū Hurayrah say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "For I am the last of the prophets, and it is the last of the mosques."
