machine translationMālik narrates it, and there is disagreement about what he reported. Aḥmad b. al-Aswad al-Ḥanafī narrated it from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Uways, from Mālik, from Zayd b. Aslam, from Ibn ʿUmar. Isḥāq al-Ṭabbāʿ narrated it from Mālik, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, and ʿAlī b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz followed him in this, from al-Qaʿnabī, from Mālik. With al-Qaʿnabī it has two forms: from Mālik, from Nāfiʿ, and from ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār. In the Muwaṭṭaʾ he narrated it from Mālik, from ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār, but outside the Muwaṭṭaʾ he narrated it from Mālik, from Nāfiʿ, and a group narrated it from him in that form. Likewise Aḥmad b. Ṣāliḥ narrated this hadith from Ibn Wahb, from Mālik, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, but he was not corroborated in this from Ibn Wahb, and it was rejected (munkar) from him. It is said that he retracted it. It was narrated from Isḥāq b. al-Ṭabbāʿ, from Mālik, from Nāfiʿ, and this is the correct form. The sound (ṣaḥīḥ) report from Ibn Wahb is from Mālik, from ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār, from Ibn ʿUmar.

in صحيح ابن حبان, p. 1622
