✧ The mosque in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was built of mud bricks, its roof was of palm branches, and its pillars were of palm trunks. Abu Bakr ؓ did not add to it. Umar ؓ added to it and rebuilt it on its original structure from the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with mud bricks and palm branches, and replaced its pillars with wood. Then Uthman ؓ changed it, made a large addition, built its walls with carved stones, made its pillars of carved stones, and roofed it with teak.
