✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ with me two men from the Ash'aris, one on my right and the other on my left, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was using the siwak. Both of them asked for a position of authority. I said, 'By the One who sent you with the truth, they did not inform me of what was in their minds, and I did not realize that they were seeking a position of authority.' It is as if I can see his siwak under his lip, which had receded. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'We do not, or we will not, seek help in our work from someone who desires it. But you go.' So he sent him to Yemen, then he sent Mu'adh b. Jabal after him.
