حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:
كُنَّا نَمْشِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَرَرْنَا عَلَى صِبْيَانٍ يَلْعَبُونَ، فَتَفَرَّقُوا حِينَ رَأَوُا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، وَجَلَسَ ابْنُ صَيَّادٍ، فَكَأَنَّهُ غَاظَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ! فَقَالَ لَهُ: مَا لَكَ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكَ ! أَتَشْهَدُ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ ؟. فَقَالَ: أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْتَ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ ؟ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي فَلْأَقْتُلْ هَذَا الْخَبِيثَ ! قَالَ: دَعْهُ، فَإِنْ يَكُنِ الَّذِي تَخَوَّفُ [١]فَلَنْ تَسْتَطِيعَ قَتْلَهُ

They dispersed when they saw the Prophet ﷺ, but Ibn Ṣayyād sat down, and it was as if he had angered the Prophet ﷺ! He said to him: "What is the matter with you? May your hands be covered in dust! Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?" ʿUmar said: "O Messenger of Allah, leave me, let me kill this wicked one!" He said: "Leave him. If he is the one you fear [1], you will not be able to kill him."
