حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْجَحَافِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ قَالَ:
أَتَيْتُ مُحَمَّدَ ابْنَ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ الْمُخْتَارِ أَتَانَا يَدْعُونَا، قَالَ: فَقَالَ لِي: لَا تُقَاتِلْ، إِنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَسُوءَ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةَ أَوْ آتِيَهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهِهَا.
