حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ:
لَمَّا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُلَاعِنَ أَهْلَ نَجْرَانَ قَبِلُوا الْجِزْيَةَ أَنْ يُعْطُوهَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَقَدْ أَتَانِي الْبَشِيرُ بِهَلَكَةِ أَهْلِ نَجْرَانَ لَوْ تَمُّوا عَلَى الْمُلَاعَنَةِ حَتَّى الطَّيْرِ عَلَى الشَّجَرِ أَوِ الْعُصْفُورِ عَلَى الشَّجَرِ، وَلَمَّا غَدَا إِلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَخَذَ بِيَدِ حَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ، وَكَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ تَمْشِي خَلْفَهُ

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to invoke mutual curses (mulāʿanah) upon the people of Najrān, they agreed to pay the jizyah and give it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The bearer of good news has come to me with the destruction of the people of Najrān, had they gone through with the mutual cursing, even the birds on the trees, or the sparrow on the tree." And when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to them in the morning, he took the hand of Ḥasan and Ḥusayn, and Fāṭimah was walking behind him.
