حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:
لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ أُحُدٍ هُزِمَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ، وَصَاحَ إِبْلِيسُ: أَيْ عِبَادَ اللهِ، أُخْرَاكُمْ، قَالَ: فَرَجَعَتْ أُولَاهُمْ فَاجْتَلَدَتْ هِيَ وَأُخْرَاهُمْ، قَالَ: فَنَظَرَ حُذَيْفَةُ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِأَبِيهِ الْيَمَانِ فَقَالَ: عِبَادَ اللهِ، أَبِي....أَبِي، قَالَتْ: فَوَاللهِ مَا احْتَجَزُوا حَتَّى قَتَلُوهُ، فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكُمْ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ: فَوَاللهِ مَا زَالَتْ فِي حُذَيْفَةَ بَقِيَّةُ خَيْرٍ حَتَّى لَحِقَ بِاللهِ

When it was the day of Uḥud, the polytheists were defeated, and Iblīs cried out: "O servants of God, behind you!" She said: So the front ranks of them turned back and fought with their rear ranks. She said: Then Ḥudhayfah looked, and there was his father al-Yamān, and he said: "Servants of God, my father... my father!" She said: By God, they did not hold back until they had killed him. Ḥudhayfah said: "May God forgive you." ʿUrwah said: By God, there remained in Ḥudhayfah a remnant of goodness until he met God.
