حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسٌ قَالَ:
نص إضافيكُنَّا مَعَ عُمَرَ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ نَتَرَاءَى الْهِلَالَ فَرَأَيْتُهُ وَكُنْتُ حَدِيدَ الْبَصَرِ فَجَعَلْتُ أَقُولُ لِعُمَرَ: مَا تَرَاهُ ؟ وَجَعَلَ عُمَرُ يَنْظُرُ وَلَا يَرَاهُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: سَأَرَاهُ وَأَنَا مُسْتَلْقٍ عَلَى فِرَاشِي، ثُمَّ أَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُنَا عَنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ، قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَيَرَى مَصَارِعَ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ بِالْأَمْسِ، يَقُولُ: هَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلَانٍ غَدًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ، وَهَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلَانٍ غَدًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ، قَالَ: فَوَالَّذِي بَعَثَهُ بِالْحَقِّ مَا أَخْطَأُوا تِلْكَ الْحُدُودَ يُصْرَعُونَ عَلَيْهَا. ثُمَّ جُعِلُوا فِي بِئْرٍ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ فَانْطَلَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ [١]حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ: يَا فُلَانُ بْنَ فُلَانٍ، وَيَا فُلَانُ بْنَ فُلَانٍ: هَلْ وَجَدْتُمْ مَا وَعَدَكُمُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ حَقًّا ؟ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كَيْفَ تُكَلِّمُ أَجْسَادًا لَا أَرْوَاحَ فِيهَا ؟ قَالَ: مَا أَنْتُمْ بِأَسْمَعَ لِمَا أَقُولُ مِنْهُمْ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ يَرُدُّونَ عَلَيَّ شَيْئًا

Additional text: We were with ʿUmar between Mecca and Medina, looking for the new moon. I saw it, and I had sharp eyesight, so I kept saying to ʿUmar: "Do you not see it?" ʿUmar kept looking but could not see it. Then ʿUmar said: "I will see it while I am lying on my bed." Then he began to tell us about the people of Badr. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to show us the places where the people of Badr would fall the day before, saying: "This is where so-and-so will fall tomorrow, if Allah wills, and this is where so-and-so will fall tomorrow, if Allah wills." He said: By the One who sent him with the truth, they did not miss those spots at which they fell. Then they were thrown into a well, one on top of another. Then the Prophet ﷺ went until he reached them and said: "O so-and-so son of so-and-so, and O so-and-so son of so-and-so: have you found what Allah and His Messenger promised you to be true?" ʿUmar said: "O Messenger of Allah, how can you speak to bodies that have no souls in them?" He said: "You do not hear what I say any better than they do, except that they are unable to reply to me with anything."
