حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ دَاوُدَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:
لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ بَدْرٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَنْ صَنَعَ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَلَهُ كَذَا وَكَذَا، قَالَ: فَتَسَارَعَ [١]فِي ذَلِكَ شُبَّانُ الرِّجَالِ، وَبَقِيَتِ الشُّيُوخُ تَحْتَ الرَّايَاتِ، فَلَمَّا كَانَتِ الْغَنَائِمُ جَاؤُوا يَطْلُبُونَ الَّذِي جُعِلَ لَهُمْ، فَقَالَ الشُّيُوخُ لَا تَسْتَأْثِرُونَ عَلَيْنَا؛ فَإِنَّا كُنَّا رِدْأَكُمْ، وَكُنَّا تَحْتَ الرَّايَاتِ، وَلَوِ انْكَشَفْتُمُ انْكَشَفْتُمْ إِلَيْنَا، فَتَنَازَعُوا فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﴿يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الأَنْفَالِ ﴾إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: ﴿وَأَطِيعُوا اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ ﴾

When it was the day of Badr, the Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Whoever does such and such, he shall have such and such." He said: So the young men hastened to that, while the elders remained under the banners. When the spoils came, they came seeking what had been promised to them. The elders said: "Do not take it exclusively over us, for we were your support, and we were under the banners, and had you been routed, you would have been routed back to us." So they disputed, and God revealed: ﴿يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الأَنْفَالِ ﴾ up to His saying: ﴿وَأَطِيعُوا اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ ﴾
