machine translationAbū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Ẓabyān, from Jarīr, who said:

Machine translation, not reviewed

We stopped at al-Ṣifāḥ, and there we found a man sleeping in the shade of a tree, with the sun about to reach him. He said: I said to the boy: Go with this leather mat and shade him. He said: So he shaded him. When he woke up, it was Salmān. He said: I came to him to greet him with salām. He said: He said: "O Jarīr! Humble yourself before Allah, for whoever humbles himself before Allah, Allah will raise him on the Day of Resurrection. O Jarīr! Do you know what the darknesses are on the Day of Resurrection?" He said: I said: I do not know. He said: "It is the wrongdoing of people against one another in this world." Then he took a twig that I could hardly see between his fingers, and said: "O Jarīr! If you were to look in Paradise for the like of this twig, you would not find it." He said: I said: O Abū ʿAbdillāh, where are the palm trees and the trees? He said: "Their roots are pearls and gold, and their upper parts are fruit."
