A man from the Anṣār heard a man from the Jews in the market saying: "By the One who chose Moses [1] over mankind." So he struck his face and said: "You wretch! Even over Abū al-Qāsim?" The Jew went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Abū al-Qāsim, so-and-so struck my face." He sent for him and called him, and said: "Why did you strike his face?" He said: "I passed by him in the market and heard him say: 'By the One who chose Moses over mankind.' Anger seized me, so I struck his face." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not make distinctions between the prophets, for the people will be struck unconscious on the Day of Resurrection, and I will raise my head and find Moses holding one of the pillars of the Throne. I do not know whether he was among those who were struck unconscious and recovered before me, or whether he was reckoned by his first unconsciousness," or he said: "his first unconsciousness sufficed him."
