Abū Bakr was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ from Mecca to Medina, and Abū Bakr used to travel back and forth to Syria. He said: He was known, while the Prophet ﷺ was not known. So they would say: O Abū Bakr, who is this young man in front of you? He said: This is a guide who guides me [1] along the way. He said: When they drew near Medina, they stopped at the Ḥarrah and sent for the Anṣār, and they came. He said: I witnessed him the day he entered Medina, and I never saw a day better or brighter than the day he entered upon us. And I witnessed him the day he died, and I never saw a day uglier or darker than the day he died, may the blessings of God, His mercy and His pleasure be upon him [2]
