حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:
كَانَ قَيْسُ [بْنُ سَعْدِ ] [١]بْنِ عُبَادَةَ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ عَلَى مُقَدِّمَتِهِ، وَمَعَهُ خَمْسَةُ آلَافٍ قَدْ حَلَقُوا رُؤُوسَهُمْ بَعْدَمَا مَاتَ عَلِيٌّ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ الْحَسَنُ فِي بَيْعَةِ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَبَى قَيْسٌ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ، فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: مَا شِئْتُمْ ؟ إِنْ شِئْتُمْ جَالَدْتُ بِكُمْ أَبَدًا حَتَّى يَمُوتَ الْأَعْجَلُ، وَإِنْ شِئْتُمْ أَخَذْتُ لَكُمْ أَمَانًا، فَقَالُوا لَهُ: خُذْ لَنَا أَمَانًا، فَأَخَذَ لَهُمْ أَنَّ لَهُمْ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَلَا يُعَاقَبُوا بِشَيْءٍ؛ وَإِنِّي [٢]رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ، وَلَمْ يَأْخُذْ لِنَفْسِهِ خَاصَّةً شَيْئًا، فَلَمَّا ارْتَحَلَ [٣]نَحْوَ الْمَدِينَةِ وَمَضَى بِأَصْحَابِهِ جَعَلَ يَنْحَرُ لَهُمْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ جَزُورًا حَتَّى بَلَغَ
