A drink was brought to ʿUmar while he was at the standing place (al-mawqif) on the evening of ʿArafah. He drank, then handed it to the master of the people of Yemen, who was on his right. He said [1]: "I am fasting." He said [2]: "I insist that you break your fast, and that you order your companions to break their fast," so they broke their fast.
