حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي
يَعْلَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ صُهَيْرَةَ بِنْتِ جَيْفَرٍ سَمِعَهُ مِنْهَا قَالَتْ: حَجَجْنَا ثُمَّ انْصَرَفْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ فَوَافَقْنَا عِنْدَهَا نِسْوَةً مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ فَقُلْنَ لَنَا: إِنْ شِئْتُنَّ سَأَلْنَا وَسَمِعْتُنَّ، وَإِنْ شِئْتُنَّ اسْأَلْنَ وَسَمِعْنَا، قُلْنَ: سَلْنَ، فَسَأَلْنَ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْمَرْأَةِ وَزَوْجِهَا، وَمِنْ أَمْرِ الْمَحِيضِ، وَسَأَلْنَ عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ، فَقَالَتْ: أَكْثَرْتُنَّ يَا أَهْلَ الْعِرَاقِ عَلَيْنَا فِي نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ، حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَبِيذَ الْجَرِّ، مَا عَلَى إِحْدَاكُنَّ أَنْ تَطْبُخَ تَمْرَهَا ثُمَّ تَدْلُكَهُ ثُمَّ تُصَفِّيَهُ فَتَجْعَلَهُ فِي سِقَائِهَا وَتُوكِئَ عَلَيْهِ، فَإِذَا طَابَ شَرِبَتْ وَسَقَتْ زَوْجَهَا

Yaʿlā b. Ḥakīm, from Ṣuhayrah bt. Jayfar, who heard it from her, she said: We performed the pilgrimage, then returned to Medina and entered upon Ṣafiyyah bt. Ḥuyayy. We found with her some women from the people of Kufa. They said to us: If you wish, we will ask and you listen, and if you wish, you ask and we listen. We said: Ask. So they asked about things concerning a woman and her husband, and about menstruation, and they asked about nabīdh made in jars. She said: You people of Iraq have pressed us much about nabīdh made in jars. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade nabīdh made in jars. There is nothing upon any of you to prevent her from boiling her dates, then rubbing them, then straining them, then putting it in her waterskin and tying it up. Then when it becomes good, she drinks and gives her husband to drink.
