machine translationYazīd b. Hārūn narrated to us, from Shuʿbah, from Qatādah, from Abū al-Mutawakkil al-Nājī, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, who said:

Machine translation, not reviewed

A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, my brother has a loose stomach (diarrhea)." He said: "Give him honey to drink." So he gave it to him, then he came to [the Messenger of Allah] [1] ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I gave it to him and it only increased his looseness." He said: "Give him honey to drink." So he gave it to him, then he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I gave it to him and it only increased his looseness." He said: "Give him honey to drink." Then either on the third or the fourth time — I think [2] he said — he was healed. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah has spoken the truth, and your brother's stomach has lied."
