حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ جُنْدُبٍ قَالَتْ:
رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَبِعَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ مَعَهَا صَبِيٌّ لَهَا بِهِ بَلَاءٌ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ هَذَا ابْنِي وَبَقِيَّةُ أَهْلِي، وَبِهِ بَلَاءٌ لَا يَتَكَلَّمُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: ائْتُونِي بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ، فَأُتِيَ بِهِ فَغَسَلَ فِيهِ يَدَيْهِ وَمَضْمَضَ فَاهُ، ثُمَّ أَعْطَاهَا، فَقَالَ: اسْقِيهِ مِنْهُ وَصُبِّي عَلَيْهِ مِنْهُ وَاسْتَشْفِي اللهَ لَهُ. فَلَقِيتُ الْمَرْأَةَ فَقُلْتُ: لَوْ وَهَبْتِ لِي مِنْهُ، فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّمَا هُوَ لِهَذَا الْمُبْتَلَى، فَلَقِيتُ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنَ الْحَوْلِ فَسَأَلْتُهَا عَنِ الْغُلَامِ ؟ فَقَالَتْ: بَرَأَ [١]وَعَقَلَ عَقْلًا لَيْسَ كَعُقُولِ النَّاسِ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ being followed by a woman from Khathʿam, with a boy of hers who was afflicted. She said: "O Messenger of Allah, this is my son and the rest of my family, and he is afflicted: he does not speak." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Bring me some water." It was brought, and he washed his hands in it and rinsed his mouth, then he gave it to her and said: "Give him some of it to drink, pour some of it over him, and ask Allah to heal him." I met the woman and said: "If only you would give me some of it." She said: "It is only for this afflicted one." Then I met the woman after a year had passed and asked her about the boy. She said: "He recovered [1] and gained an understanding unlike the understanding of other people."
