machine translationZayd b. al-Ḥubāb narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Shurayḥ narrated to us, from Muḥammad b. Sumayr al-Ruʿaynī, that he heard Abū ʿAlī al-Tujībī, that he heard Abū Rayḥānah say:

Machine translation, not reviewed

We went on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and a bitter cold struck us one night. I saw a man dig a hole, then enter it and place his shield over himself. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Who will guard us tonight?" A man of the Ansar said: "I will." He said: "From whom are you?" So he told him his lineage, and he prayed for him with good. Then he said: "Who will guard us tonight?" I said: "I will." He said: "Who are you?" I said: "Abū Rayḥānah." So he prayed for me with less than what he had prayed for the Ansari. Then he said: "The Fire is forbidden for three eyes: an eye that stayed awake in the cause of Allah, and an eye that wept or shed tears out of fear of Allah."
