حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ [عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ] إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي عَنْ رِجَالٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَلِمَةَ قَالُوا:
لَمَّا صَرَفَ مُعَاوِيَةُ عَيْنَهُ الَّتِي تَمُرُّ عَلَى قُبُورِ الشُّهَدَاءِ فَأُجْرِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمَا - يَعْنِي: عَلَى قَبْرِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَرَامٍ وَعَلَى قَبْرِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْجَمُوحِ - فَبَرَزَ قَبْرَاهُمَا، فَاسْتُصْرِخَ عَلَيْهِمَا، فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُمَا يَتَثَنَّيَانِ تَثَنِّيًا كَأَنَّهُمَا مَاتَا بِالْأَمْسِ، عَلَيْهِمَا بُرْدَتَانِ قَدْ غُطِّيَ بِهِمَا عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمَا، وَعَلَى أَرْجُلِهِمَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ نَبَاتِ الْأَرْضِ

When Muʿāwiyah diverted his spring that passes by the graves of the martyrs, and it was made to flow over the two of them - meaning: over the grave of ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr b. Ḥarām and the grave of ʿAmr b. al-Jamūḥ - their graves were exposed, and a cry for help was raised over them. So we brought them out, bending and swaying as if they had died only yesterday.
