Then the year 333 AH began
وَفِيهَا أَخْرَجَ الْمُسْتَكْفِي بِاللَّهِ الْقَاهِرَ مِنْ دَارِ الْخِلَافَةِ - الَّذِي كَانَ خَلِيفَةً، ثُمَّ سُمِلَتْ عَيْنَاهُ - وَأَنْزَلَهُ بِدَارِ ابْنِ طَاهِرٍ، وَقَدِ افْتَقَرَ الْقَاهِرُ حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْقَ لَهُ مِنَ اللِّبَاسِ سِوَى قُطْنِ جُبَّةٍ يَلْتَفُّ بِهَا، وَفِي رِجْلِهِ قَبْقَابٌ مِنْ خَشَبٍ.
Translation
✧ In this year, al-Mustakfī bi-llāh expelled al-Qāhir from the caliphal palace—the one who had been caliph, then his eyes were put out—and lodged him in the house of Ibn Ṭāhir. Al-Qāhir had become so destitute that he had no clothing left except the cotton of a jubba that he wrapped around himself, and on his foot was a wooden qabqāb.
