أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَلِيمٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الشَّذُورِيُّ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ هُبَيْرَةَ ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ أَنْبَأَ أَبُو التَّيَّاحِ قَالَ
صَلَّيْنَا الْجُمُعَةَ فَانْضَمَّ النَّاسُ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ حَتَّى كَانُوا كَالرَّحَاءِ حَوْلَ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ الْعُطَارِدِيِّ فَسَأَلُوهُ عَنِ الْفِتْنَةِ فَقَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلَانِ إِلَى مَجْلِسِ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ فَقَالَا يَا ابْنَ الصَّامِتِ تُعِيدُ الْحَدِيثَ الَّذِي حَدَّثْتَنَاهُ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَكُونَ خَيْرُ الْمَالِ شَاتَيْنِ مَكِّيَّةٌ وَمَدَنِيِّةٌ تَرْعَى فَوْقَ رُءُوسِ الضِّرَابِ تَأْكُلُ مِنْ وَرِقِ الْقَتَادِ وَالبَشَامِ وَيَأْكُلُ أَهْلُهُ مِنْ لُحْمَانِهِ وَيَشْرَبُونَ مِنْ أَلْبَانِهِ وَجَرَاثِيمُ الْعَرَبِ تَرْتَهِشُ فِيهَا الْفِتَنُ يَقُولُهَا ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَأَنَّ يَكُونَ لِأَحَدِكُمْ ثَلَاثُ مِائَةِ شَاةٍ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ لُحْمَانِهَا وَيَشْرُبُ مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ سَوَارِيكُمْ هَذِهِ ذَهَبًا وَفِضَّةً»
Translation

✧ We prayed the Friday prayer and the people crowded together until they were like a millstone around Abu Raja al-Utaridi. They asked him about the tribulation, and he said: Two men came to the gathering of Ubada b. al-Samit and said, 'O Ibn al-Samit, repeat the hadith you told us.' He said, 'Yes, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Soon the best wealth will be two sheep, a Makkan and a Madinan, grazing above the tops of hills, eating from the leaves of tragacanth and basham, while its owner eats from their meat and drinks from their milk, while the strongholds of the Arabs will be shaken by tribulations." He said it three times, then said, "By Him in whose hand is my soul, for one of you to have three hundred sheep, eating from their meat and drinking from their milk, is dearer to him than these pillars of yours of gold and silver."
